Thallus thin, continuous or scattered-granular to verruculose, whitish grey to pale grey, epruinose. Soredia absent. Prothallus whitish grey. Apothecia sessile, 0.3–0.8 mm diam.; disc red-brown to olivaceous brown or greyish brown, faintly whitish grey-pruinose to epruinose; margin whitish grey, ±whitish-pruinose, thick, verrucose, crenulate. Cortex hyaline, distinct, gelatinous, inspersed with small crystals, 20–50 µm thick laterally and basally. Amphithecium lacking crystals, densely packed with algae; algal layer continuous below hymenium. Parathecium hyaline, lacking crystals. Epihymenium olivaceous brown to red-brown, c. 10 µm thick, with numerous small crystals insoluble in KOH. Hymenium and subhymenium hyaline. Hypothecium hyaline to yellowish brown. Paraphyses sparingly branched and thickened apically. Ascospores ellipsoidal, 6.5–10.0 × 4.0–5.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: Thallus and apothecial margin K–, C–, Pd–; containing an unknown pigment (major), arthothelin (trace) and asemone (trace). | ||
